Fun Facts

It is unusual in the parrot family for its extreme sexual dimorphism of the colours of the plumage; the male having a mostly bright emerald green plumage and the female a mostly bright red and purple/blue plumage.

Moluccan eclectus are shy and secretive birds.

They are active during the day, spending most of their time collecting food, eating and resting.

They live in pairs or small flocks and at night roost in groups.

These parrots are quite noisy.
