Fun Facts

Lories and Lorikeets are also known as brush-tongued parrots because of the collection of tiny hairs at the end of the tongue with which they sock up nectar and collect pollen from plants.

Lories are reported to be good mimics, able to replicate human and animal noises.

One captive pair of this species learned to mimic chickens, gulls, steam whistles and dog yelping.

In Australia, all lories and lorikeets are called lories colloquially.
